Show society winds up a bumper year

WANGARATTA Agricultural Society celebrated a successful year with a wind–up dinner at The Vine Hotel on Thursday night last week.

Society president Fiona Evans said the year had been a huge sucess.

"It exceeding all our expectatiuons," Ms Evans said.

The night was also an opportunity to honour long–time secretary Bev Tiffin who stepped down from the role after 40 years of service.

Bev is the longest serving secretary of the agricultural society in its 160 year history.

"Thankfully all that experience won't be lost as Bev will stay on the committee," Ms Evans said.

"Bev is always totally reliable and has the answer for every question and is so easy to get along with."

Charmane Bennett has stepped up to take on the secretary's role.

Ms Evans said the dinner was also an opportunijty to thank everyone who had contibuted to the society's success over the last 12 months.

"Thank you to all the members of the ladies committee and general committee for their efforts over the year," she said.

"I also wanted to thank everyone else who helped us out along the way, it's a real team effort."
